I didn't play 1 personally, but I feel like I might enjoy it, but it's not something I'm in a rush to play. I feel like the words remake/remaster are used basically at random very often and there's little to go by there, but I can understand how you feel.

There is also another melee skill that can alter this behaviour: 'FIRST', which allows to ignore the priority list and always go first. Specially after what they did to Tactics Ogre. Another thing to know is attack priority: long goes before short, short goes before melee and melee goes before long. Well yeah, they also have the freedom to not re-imagine anything, which is a perfectly valid approach to games that might hold up with a facelift and some qol changes. There are many Front Mission kind of game that came out recently In the OGs the opening mission a subordinate asks some questions and the MC says something like 'Say anything else, and Ill shoot you,' which was toned wayyy down in the remake. They have a freedom to re-imagine however they want as long as the soul is still there. PH version mentions that you travel to the first mission by submarine, then board a ship that takes you to land. It's remake, not remaster or definitive edition.
